PREVENTION OF CHOKING

1. Chop up soft foods into small pieces before giving them to your toddler.

2. Don't give hard foods to children less than four years old.

3. Don't leave food lying around after meals or parties.

4. Tell your children not to run around with food or gum in their mouth.

5. Teach your kids not to keep food in their cheeks like a chipmunk.

6. Keep toys with small detachable parts away from young children.

7. Check your child's play area for small objects <1 inch that they might place in their mouth.

8. Supervise children playing with rubber balloons and don't let them suck on a deflated or popped balloon.
